"Huge Loss for Gay Groups" is a headline I just saw on yahoo.com (which has now disappeared). It made me stop and think, "Just gay groups?" It’s not. Its a huge loss for every single American citizen. This doesn’t just affect us gays. This archaic law fosters hate, it encourages intolerance and requires deceit. Are these really qualities that we want our service men and women to possess? No.
Even if you aren’t gay, this affects you. If you’re future children or friends possess the passion to serve their country but they happen to be gay they will be told to go home. Is that really want we want for future generations? Just like Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta said at her Maine rally, we should be telling those who have a problem with tolerance, who harbor hate or who practice homophobia to go home. Only those who can honor the oath to protect this nation and its people without prejudice should be allowed to serve.
What an epic speech today from Gaga. I heard her in person when she first yelled “Are you listening?” and here she does it again after a heroic speech that oozes of passion, of justice and ultimately logic. The constitution is not a cafeteria.
Federal judge rules don’t ask don’t tell unconstitutional. #duh anyone who wants to serve this country in the military should be allowed to no matter what your biological, economic, sexual background. its like saying, “no braden, you can’t be a graphic designer because you’re gay.” god, can we please progress past that archaic thinking?
